چکیده

Filter design specifications can be manifest in all manner of necessity, whether they are high-pass, low-pass, band-pass, or stop-band filters. In addition, the parameters for such filters are defined for a very specific application. A design for a lowpass filter with a pass-band of 2k Hz and a stop-band of 4k will be discussed. The further properties of the filter are to allow for a 48 dB drop between the pass-band and the stopband, which results in the need to implement an 8 order filter. This paper will compare two very different filter architectures to meet these requirements: Sallen-Key and MultiFeedback (MFB).

Minimizing Component-Variation Sensitivity in Single Op Amp Filters - AN738

By delving a little more deeply into the Sallen-Key filter's component sensitivities, we discover a "sweet spot" in the mathematical analysis that allows the design of simple, single op amp filters whose performance rivals that of more complicated filters. This approach has been useful in extending the utility of Sallen-Key filters. Dozens of filter topologies have been devised over the years, ...

Fundamental Frequency Limitations in Current-mode Sallen-key Filters

Single-amplifier filter biquads and especially Sallen-Key filters are widely used to build higher-order filter cascades. This paper investigates high-frequency current amplifier non-idealities and their effects on all-pole Sallen-Key filter biquads. It is shown that a non-ideal current amplifier input causes parasitic zeros in the filter transfer function, and thus imposes fundamental limitatio...

Modelling and optimization of active filters by hybrid VIV-MMC-graphs

Novel “VIV” signal flow graphs are introduced. They provide a description of active filter subblocks consisting of OpAmps with grounded inputs. The Tow-Thomas, the Åckerberg-Mossberg, the Fleischer-Tow, and MFB structures are typical representatives of such a filter class. Many kinds of active filter like the Sallen-Key utilize a more general OpAmp connection with ungrounded inputs. These circu...

Low-sensitivity active-RC high- and band-pass second-order Sallen & Key allpole filters

The design procedure of low-sensitivity, low-pass (LP) 2-and 3-order class-4 Sallen and Key active resistance-capacitance (RC) allpole filters, using impedance tapering, has already been published [1]. In this paper desensitization using impedance tapering is applied to HP and BP 2-order filters. It is shown that HP filters have dual properties to LP filters in the sense of sensitivity. Among v...

Measurement Fractional Order Sallen-Key Filters

This work aims to generalize the integer order SallenKey filters into the fractional-order domain. The analysis in the case of two different fractional-order elements introduced where the general transfer function becomes four terms which is unusual in the conventional case. In addition, the effect of the transfer function parameters on the filter poles and hence the stability is introduced and...
